With the current craze for bold, look-at-me brows (hello, Cara Delevingne!), you’d be forgiven for thinking that brows should be one-size-fits-all. But the truth is that various brows work for various face shapes: If your face is long and lean, your ideal brow shape will be very different than someone who is round with wide cheeks.

Celebrity brow expert Joey Healy, is the man behind the gorgeous brows of celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Kyra Sedgwick, and Bethenny Frankel, about the best brows for you—whatever your face shape may be:
IF YOUR FACE IS ROUND
A round face requires brows that give more angles to the face, explains Healy. “A nice, high arch about 2/3rds of the way along the brow is key.”

GET THE LOOK: Use a brow stencil like (1) Anastasia Stencils ($20) or (2) Sephora Collection Fall in Line Brow Stencil Kit ($12) to help create the perfect arch.
IF YOUR FACE IS SQUARE
Square-shaped faces require a bit of a balancing act—you want something that’s not too arched but not too round. “You want a softer arch, but not round,” says Healy. “It should only be gently curved to help balance the face.”

GET THE LOOK: Help create the perfect definition and shape thanks to a brow powder kit, such as (3) Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit ($4) or (4) Milani Brow Fit Brow Kit ($7).
IF YOUR FACE IS HEART-SHAPED
“Avoid thick, bold brows—you’ll want something with more definition and polish,” says Healy. The top of your face is more dominant because of a wider forehead and a narrower chin, so nicely tapered brows will help balance out a smaller bottom half of your face.

GET THE LOOK: Try a pair of tweezers like (5) Tweezerman Pink Perfection Slant Tweezer ($23) or (6) Sephora Collection On Point Tweezer ($5) to help taper brows and keep them defined.
IF YOUR FACE IS OVAL
Lucky you—an oval face can pull off any style. Healy recommends a classic, thick brow with a tapered tail and the arch point 2/3rd of the way down the line. “The arch and nice, crisp tail will really help lift your cheekbones and give them life,” he explains.

GET THE LOOK: Try a colored brow gel like (7) Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel ($24) or (8) L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel Mascara ($8) to help make brows thick and full.
IF YOUR FACE IS LONG
Long faces need help creating balance, so you’ll want a wider brow. “It’s really important that brows aren’t too far apart, so starting at the bridge of the nose is key. You’ll also want to let the tails of the brows extend a bit further, to help stretch out the face and bring it into proportion.”

GET THE LOOK: Try a brow pencil like (9) Lancome Le Crayon Poudre Powder Pencil for the Brows ($27) or (10) Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil and Gel ($9) to help extend the brow line.
