Ethnic Castings? Looks Like White People Are Starting To Feel Disenfranchised By Black Excellence On TV.

What should be a celebration of the amount of faces of color we’ve been able to experience on prime time TV has turned into a whine session on Deadline about Black actors in lead roles of shows that are killing the ratings game right now, as if we don’t deserve the roles in the first place. With this bold inquiry: Pilots 2015: The Year Of Ethnic Castings – About Time Or Too Much Of Good Thing?, we’re left waiting for Nellie Andreeva at the do’!
Ethnic casting? Ethnic. Good thing Andreeva defined what she mean by that loaded word: “a casting term used for non-Caucasian thesps.” The flaw in this explanation is that White actors stand alone as “Caucasian,” as every other actor of color is grouped into the convenient label of “ethnic.”
It looks like Andreeva’s agent friends have been complaining to her about not being able to get roles for their White talent and she took those complaints and formed this opinion, veiling her knowledge with lists of TV shows that now have diverse talent in them, of which she expertly throws shade.
Andreeva was off to a good start when she said:

Cissy Houston Says There’s Not Much Hope For Bobbi Kristina’s Condition.

Cissy Houston has broken her silence about Bobbi Kristina‘s condition and how she’s handling it.
It’s been nearly two months since Bobbi slipped into a coma after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at the end of January. Doctors at Emory University have tried their best to revive her in that time, but nothing they’ve done has gotten her to wake up.
Bobbi was taken to a rehab facility for long-term care last weekend, and WBLS was curious whether there had been any improvement in her condition. Sadly, Cissy reported that nothing has changed for Bobbi and the family’s confidence that she’ll recover is beginning to fade.
“She’s the same. We’ve moved her now to a place for rehabilitation,” Cissy told WBLS. “But you know, still not a great deal of hope. We’re praying.”
While Cissy has already done all the praying she’s going to do about Bobbi’s medical status, she won’t discourage others from praying for her granddaughter. As a matter of fact, she’s petitioning for more of them.
“I don’t pray like that. I give it to God one time because I know He’s able. And I cannot change a thing,” Cissy stated. “So I’m asking everybody, just pray to the Lord who we know can do something about it.”

Serena Williams smacked it in the air all over the tennis court and popped it up and down the hall for her fantastic remake of “7/11”!
As if landing the cover of “Vogue” was not a big enough win, Serena has also won the Internet today with her rendition of Beyoncé‘s homemade turnup video.
Rain be dammed! Serena wasn’t going to let a few drops keep her from having fun with her friends at BallenIsles Country Club. And Vogue wasn’t about to let you miss a second of it.
She busted out her moves on the tennis court, in the hall, in front of a dressing room mirror. Then, she put her feet up…in a hand stand. After all that flexing and spinning with her hands up, Serena kicked back to get a refreshing sip of something with her new buddies.

Alicia Keys To Receive Special Honor At The 2015 Grammys On The Hill Awards.

This girl really is on fire…
Alicia Keys is set to receive one of Grammys highest honors, the Recording Artist’s Coalition Award.
Founded by Don Henley and Sheryl Crow, the Recording Artist’s Coalition award honors the work of artists who advocate for the rights of music creators through philanthropy, education and dialogue.
“We are proud to honor Alicia Keys for her artistry, philanthropy and her passion for creators’ rights as a founding member of the Academy’s brand-new GRAMMY Creators Alliance,” Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow said. “We know that she will bring the same dedication to creators’ rights as she does to her music and global philanthropic efforts.”
Alicia is certainly a Grammy favorite 15 golden gramophones in her trophy case. The 2015 GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards take place on April 15 at The Hamilton in Washington, D.C..
