Whew!
This week flew by, didn’t it? I’m more than ready to enjoy some much
needed R&R. But, before we go any further, let’s take a quick look
at some of our hottest looks of the week!
Sila Sahin clearly loves Missguided, as the Turkish-German actress sported another dress from the brand this week — a $67 Charlotte Crepe Deep v Bodycon number:
It has been four months since Jean Paul Gaultier
brought his ready-to-wear business to a close with all the pomp and
circumstance fit for a designer of his magnitude. Couture is his brand’s
main focus now and he began this new adventure with a collection
centered around saying “I Do” — a phrase women the world over are
already well-versed in uttering at the sight of just about anything
Gaultier.
If one knows anything about Elie Saab,
the most important element to his aesthetic is his celebration of the
woman for whom no adornment is too much. Beaded embellishment? Saab says
bring it on. Sheer-on-sheer construction? Saab says watch me work. Elie Saab’s Spring 2015 Couture Collection
was, for better or worse, no different. Models sauntered the runway in
the most precious of jeweled gowns with embroidered and sequined
detailing delicatelycovering all the right places.
Kendall & Kylie Jenner are building their fashion empire brick
by collaborative brick. After collaborations with MaddenGirl and Pacsun
amongst others, the pair are rumored to be working on a project with
Topshop. Due out as early as this summer, the announcement would follow
that of Beyonce’s activewear line with the brand which is set to debut
this year as well. (Grazia UK)
Kris Jenner’s fashionable turns continued as she debarked a plane in
LA with model daughter Kendall! The infamous momager looked comfortable
yet chic in black pants and a Saint Laurent fox fur coat:
Happy Thursday everyone!
TGIT has returned, thus it’s a glorious day!
This week, it was all about all-black ensembles for celebs, whether cocktail-ready or casual.
Let’s get into the looks shall we?
Ms. Coleman was outfitted in a pink and brown A-line dress from Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2015 collection and Christian Louboutin pumps.
Her dress was modeled was saucy lace ups.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s name has been on the lips of the who’s who in the industry after her stellar performance in the 2013 film, Belle,
but we have been obsessed with the British beauty for quite some time.
With a name derived from the Zulu phrase meaning “Our Treasure”, it
seems as if the actress was bound for success as soon as she entered the
world.
Chris Brown has teamed up with Renowned Clothing on a capsule of
black t-shirts, sporting a series of images including his half obscured
visage, gold teeth, and tiger stripes.
Freida Pinto was spotted at the 30th Santa Barbara International Film Festival Desert Dancer Opening Night Presentation in a Mason by Michelle Mason Pre-Fall 2015 Periwinkle Sheer and Striped Panel Halter Top and Maxi Skirt:
So everytime I emerge from my house and my legs appear bare, my friends touch my legs, and ask, “your legs are so flawless?”I always have to reiterate that yes, I’m wearing hose–Berkshire nude hose to be exact:
Balmain’s
popularity in the fashion industry and beyond has been quite strong for
some time now — thanks in no large part to designer Olivier Rousteing
and his bevy of stylish fans and friends. With the iconic French fashion
house opening a new boutique in London next week and another set to
open its doors in the trendy SoHo neighborhood of the Big Apple, the
only way is up for the brand, as long as its customers get on-board with
their hard-earned cash.
Selma has gone across the pond! Tonight, the film had its
Premiere in London with the film’s stars in attendance, as well as a
couple of other stylish ladies.
Let’s see what they wore!
Raf Simons’ Christian DiorSpring 2015 Couture Collection
was anything but predictable. Yes, the typical inspirations of a floral
spring awakening were at play, but Simons took a very different lens
with his bold interpretations of this season’s looks. His pieces took us
on a journey of a rather rainy spring — with waterproof clear coats,
cleverly printed with flowers through to long-sleeved graphic blazen
bodysuits with matching shiny boots.
Karl Lagerfeld’s ChanelSpring 2015 Couture Collection
was an ode to spring, in a most literal sense, but that didn’t make it
any less beautiful. Leading the pack was wunderkind male model Baptiste
Giabiconi, who donned a rarely seen scruffy beard and had his straw hat
and watering can handy. It got us thinking what type of mischief might
be in store for Chanel’s fantasy garden.
Mom-ager Kris Jenner saw her daughter Kendall Jenner strut down the Chanel
Spring 2015 Couture show catwalk, while she sported a Fall 2014 Black
and White Tweed Jacket with Silver Trim and Resort 2015 Sheer Trousers
in the front row:
“I call this one look Last Ni**as in Paris. Why? Because it’s
the sweet spot when the hood –the ‘hood– meets Bertolucci’s movie Last
Tango in Paris. So that’s ‘Ni**as in Paris’ and Last Ni**as in Paris.
[Nervous laughter from audience.] Oh, I am glad some people laughed with
me. Yes, I mean, it’s nice to play with the strong signifiers. The
Timberland here is a very strong ghetto signifier. In the ghetto, it is
all the Timberlands, all the big chain. Not at the same time—never; it’s
bad taste. So we designed Timberlands with Timberland…” We felt it
best to present that statement uninterrupted and allow you to draw your
own conclusions. It was made by Jean Touitou of A.P.C. who said that
inspiration for the name stemmed from a partnership (and blessing) with
Kanye West. (Complex)
Giambattista Valli never ceases to amaze. In their Couture Spring 2015 presentation,
the central focus was placed upon mixing both feminine pieces with
those inspired by menswear. The neutral-based pallette of the
collection, coupled with its subtle yet dynamic intricacies, validates
the fact that Giambattista Valli knows a thing or two about incorporating that extra bit of edgy pizzazz.
La Perla
has set its sights on Couture. For the brand’s first-ever collection of
the sort in Paris, it combined its penchant for sultry lingerie with
functional sportswear in an extraordinary and newfangled catwalk
presentation. With supermodel Naomi Campbell closing the show, one could
easily tell that the brand meant business–and that its latest attempt
at injecting sex appeal into the fashion industry had the cosign of some
major influencers.
Solange Knowles brought her trademark eccentricity to LAX Airport for
a flight over the weekend. She embraced her favorite sunshine hue via a
ribbed, ostrich feather adorned ribbed top and skirt by Marques Almeida:
First Lady Michelle Obama’s fashionable turns continued in India, as
she accompanied husband President Barack Obama for a political trip. She
descended the steps of Air Force One a few hours ago in a Spring 2015
blue floral dress by Indian born, New York based designer Bibhu
Mohapatra:
The twitterverse was up in arms this weekend over the perceived slight
of Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell, who many thought deserved the Miss
Universe crown. Equipped with an unorthodox short cut (versus the
voluminous locks of typical contestants) and an absolutely gorgeous
visage, Ms. Fennell was a fan favorite because of her intelligence and
gumption (apparently she named Bob Marley and Usain Bolt as Jamaica’s
greatest contributions to the world). The hashtag #MissJamaicaShouldHaveWon quickly materialized; she certainly was the people’s choice, but Miss Colombia, Paulina Vega, ultimately took the crown. (USA Today)
Versace
never skimps on the sex appeal, and their Spring 2015 couture show was
further proof of their predilection. Even buttoned up pant suits had
blazers falling sensuously off the shoulder, while most gowns seemed to
play with cut outs in new ways, with sinewy incisions lining the curves
of the female form.
Hey all! Monday’s here, but there’s no need to fret. A few of our
fave celebs were out and about snapping it up for Instagram. And in a
nutshell, this turned out to be one stylish weekend. From birthday
fêtes to TV appearances, i’ve got the complete rundown on who wore
what. But how did they look? Let’s get to it!
Queens Of Africa a Nigeria-based company has released the latest line of pretty Black Barbies and they’re hugely popular and have impressively surpassed the sales
of iconic Barbie. We all know that as a little girl, a Black Barbie was
probably best thing we could’ve ever clutched out of our toy box. Since
those days, other brands have created Black dolls in the form of
plastic or a plush toy and they are all a part of a larger underground
culture of Black doll collectors.
The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards just wrapped up in LA and i am bringing you all of the celebrities’ stylish looks for the
evening!
Here are their choices for the night in 3…2…1…
The 2015 SAG Awards are just hours away — will you all be tuning in?
Tinseltown’s finest were on-hand at EW’s celebration for the awards
show’s nominees in crop tops, jumpsuits, fashion-forward frocks, and so
much more.
Here are the evening’s looks…
Kim and Kanye weren’t the only ones bringing the heat at the 2015 BET Honors event!
K Michelle looked quite stunning herself in a $2,870 Emilio Pucci Backless Gown:
The 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards went down in Atlanta last night with
some our favorite actors, actresses, songstresses, and reality TV stars
in attendance.
Let’s see what they wore!
Kanye West accepted the Visionary Award at BET’s 2015 Honors Event,
and brought wifey Kim along for the ride. For the occasion, the couple
gave Adams family realness in all black looks by Balmain.
Back in September i posted about a one-off run of tees
that designer Kirby Jean-Raymond made for himself and friends that
listed the names of 13 unarmed black men killed by police in the last
few years. At that point, there was no word on whether the designer
would sell the shirt to the public but now the designer has announced a
limited-edition run is available for sale to the public with proceeds
going to the ACLU.
Kerry Washington took to the red carpet at the 26th Annual Producers Guild Of America Awards in a Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2015 Strapless Floral Embroidered Gown:
Ciara, Kerry Washington, Katy Perry, and more bold faced names served
style at last night’s The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Los Angeles Awards.
The stars are truly turning it up for the New Year!
Let’s check ‘em out:
