And the award shows just keep on coming! Last night’s 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards ignited couture fantasies and revealed glimpses of a season that’s sure to sparkle. A bevy of talented beauties demonstrated an excitingly stunning range, from sequins and ruffles to bright bursts of colors and serenely crisp whites. Here are the best of the best from last night’s red carpet.
JEWEL TONES

Bright bursts of colors ranging from bold rubies to deep emeralds swept down the red carpet. JLo, per usual, stole our hearts and perhaps the show in a sun-bursting chartreuse Giambattista Valli caped gown. Amy Adams took her color burst inspiration from a tangerine Atelier Versace gown, reminding us that color can be transformative, while Jada Pinkett Smith shined in an emerald Versace high-slit gown.
SEQUINS

As the main event or trim for the train, sequins have once again found their center stage sparkle. Kate Hudson wowed in a champagne two-piece by Michael Kors, as Julianne Moore took a more sophisticated twist with a navy full-length Tom Ford. Brie Larson, who also took the award for Best Actor, shined brightly in a gold-sequined Calvin Klein gown with side cutouts.
RUFFLES AND EMBROIDERY

Our love affair with richly textured textiles continues. Whimsical embroidered flowers along with a ravishing sea of ruffles worked its way onto the red carpet. Rooney Mara ravished in nude ruffles by Alexander McQueen, while Jane Fonda reminded us that ruffles can be ageless in Yves Saint Laurent. Designer Georgina Chapman wowed in a dreamy floral embroidered Marchesa dress.
WHITE HOT

The clean lines of a sea of whites reminded us of our obsession with this elegant non-color. Lily James channeled the romance of white in an ethereal Marchesa, Alicia Vikander charmed in a delicate Louis Vuitton with a ruffled hem, and Laverne Cox glammed it up in an Elizabeth Kennedy trained stunner. Winner, and Lyoness, Taraji P. Henson looked sharp in a Stella McCartney caped-gown, showing us that our bold whites can be as fierce as they are pure.
VINTAGE HOLLYWOOD

Last night’s sirens channeled vintage Hollywood, showcasing a plethora of styles that echoed the glamour of days gone by. Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez wore a classic sapphire Zac Posen ball gown, while Cate Blanchett charmed in a twenties-inspired Givenchy fringe. Classic crooners Lady Gaga, in black velvet Atelier Versace, and Katy Perry, in pink Prada, joined the glam squad Monroe-style in their sultry sweetheart silhouettes.
