BCBG Max Azria Fall 2016
While we always love that new, cutting edge article of clothing or
designer that sends us into space with their collection, there’s nothing
more refreshing than seeing a staple collection mixed with some
re-imagined pieces.

Known
for their Westside meets bohemian chic clothing vibe, BCBG kept to
their general aesthetic of “newness yet familiarity” in their
collection. Inspired this season by a “performer whose individualistic
style reveals her artistic ingenuity”, the collection provided a rich
winter palette that enveloped the entirety of the collection.
Initially,
models came down the runway in graduating shades of light grey, cream
and camel. In time, the colors began to transition into rich merlots,
royal blues and carbons. Textures began to increase and blend together
cohesively, and of course, shimmering knits and slashed leggings became
the wardrobe staple piece in every watchful eye’s mind.

Playing
with a variety of trends and textures, it was imperative that the
styling was on point to support the cohesion of the collection and look.
BCBG definitely did not miss the mark, adding in subtle waves in the
clothing that appeared like tapestry from walls. The infusion of formal
versus informal continued to build on the strength of BCBG; never
overwhelming the look with too much going on while simultaneously giving
enough to keep us guessing what was next.
Although
designs may have appeared simplistic, the added elements instantly
raised outfits to provide an eclectic variation of timelessness and
trendy. Shearling-trimmed footwear and color-blocked accessories added
to the whimsical nature of this ‘artist’, a muse of sorts whose
carefreeness added to the idea of ‘gypsy girl’ meets ‘modern
socialite’.
Few
could take their eyes off of the warm furs that came down the runway,
not removing from the sparkles or exotic bohemian styling happening
underneath in forms of layers.
All in all, this show was refreshing and classic BCBG, which is always a treat to see how they’ll revamp something prescribed as timeless.
Anything in particular stick out to you?
