There are so many wonderful, extravagant things this world has to offer. There seems to always be a holiday or an occasion for gift giving. Today is Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing fathers out there! Last month was Mother’s Day. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary. There seems to always be a birthday, graduation, or some other reason to shower those we know and love with beautiful things. But as wonderful and vast as materialistic treasures can be, the gift of love is the most profound. It is the most lasting.
Don’t get me wrong, we all have a wish list or want something! There is even a euphoric excitement that comes with giving, receiving and enjoying new things. However, what solidifies the feeling of utopia is the presence and power of love.
Love, in its numerous forms, is perhaps the most costly gift we can ever give. Whether it’s sharing our heart and our affections, or forgiving someone who has caused us pain, the gift of love is quite expensive. Even the act of maintaining any kind of lasting relationship requires some form of sacrifice. The reason the gift of love is so costly is because you are the package inside. Sharing ourselves is the most lavish offering in life there is, and yet it is the most rewarding.
Take it from me, tasting wealth in life is sweet and rewarding. If it’s something you truly desire then I encourage you to pursue it. But trust and believe, with all I’ve seen and enjoyed in life, the love I share with my husband, my family, my friends, and even my staff is better than money!!!
