School Forces Black Girl To Cut Her Beautiful Natural Hair.

A 12-year-old Orlando girl set the internet ablaze this week with reports that she was expelled from her school because she dared to wear her hair the way it grows out of her head. Watch Vid Below:

Vanessa VanDyke was given the ultimatum of having to cut her hair or face expulsion from Faith Christian Academy, a local private school. Apparently, the matter of VanDyke’s hair became a school issue because other students were teasing her for her tresses. When the young girl brought complaints of bullying to administrators, instead of trying to educate the children on the fact that different hair textures exist in the world, they told her her hairstyle went against the dress code, which reads: “Hair must be a natural color and must not be a distraction.” Said rule lists mohawks, rat’s tails, and “shaved designs” as no-no’s. Apparently, afros are also distracting. The school said on Tuesday that they are “not asking her to put products in her hair or cut her hair. We’re asking her to style her hair within the guidelines according to the school handbook.” Facing a lot of media hype and outrage over the expulsion, Faith Christian Academy has decided today that they will not expel VanDyke, on the condition that she styles her hair differently. Ugh, honestly, I am so sick of writing about this stuff! Can we just let people wear their hair kinky and GET OVER IT already???? (Click Orlando)
