The moment has finally arrived! It seems that Lupita Nyong’o’s ascent to the top of the acting industry, as well as her firm embrace by fashion seemed to happen over night and the latter certainly did! Nine months ago, we fell in love with the actress and it seems that Anna Wintour has as well, considering Lupita just snagged her first cover for Vogue’s July 2014 issue:Photographed by Mikael Jansson, Lupita poses in Marrakech’s exclusive Ksar Char-Bagh resort in pieces from Rodarte, Vera Wang, Proenza Schouler, Givenchy, and so much more.
Though Ms. Nyong’o is known for her bold hair choices, her ‘do is pared-down here: cut low to allow her stunning face and the high-fashion looks to play centerstage.
Though it would have been nice to see Lupita return to Kenya or Mexico
for this momentous shoot, Northern Africa was a beautiful setting.
I along with so many in the industry thought the September issue would be Lupita’s first time gracing the glossy, but I am beyond content with seeing her face on the July cover. Vogue has really impressed me with their choices this year, so here’s to hoping Kerry Washington finally gets her time on the magazine before 2014 comes to a close.
