
Elliott ripped the runway earlier this week performing a collection of hits at Alexander Wang’s H&M Collection launch in New York City.
“‘My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months,” Elliott said. “[But] you live with it for the rest of your life.”
The “it” is Graves’ disease, an incurable thyroid condition that the now 43-year-old artist was diagnosed with back in 2008. Elliott went public with her illness in 2011, revealing to People magazine, “I couldn’t write because my nervous system was so bad – I couldn’t even use a pen.”
A consistent regimen of exercise and monitoring her diet, Elliott says, is how she completely manages the disease.
