It’s been almost two decades since Emporio Armani’s last
Parisian runway show. Thus, this season felt as timely as ever—presented
along with the major revamp of the label’s flagship on Boulevard
Saint-Germain.
The line is the playful, younger sister to Armani’s main line and
this season, the sibling had fun with an Indian-influenced inspiration.
Elephants were strewn across bag straps and suit hems, while the models’
braids seemed the ideal hairstyle for globetrotting with polish and
practicality.
Suiting had a moment in seersucker, solid navy for an office-perfect
pairing, pachyderm-embroidered velvet, and a larger version of the
trunk-toting animal that riffed closer to traditional Indian patterns.
There was a real easy, breezy, and pajama-like quality to a lot of
the looks—admittedly the exact kind of ensembles you want while
jetsetting. Especially to a balmy and incredibly hot place like India.
And loose and unconstrained sundresses were also on the menu: easily worn with sandals, sneakers, or sky-high heels.
The color palette was as rich as the wares, including Spring-perfect lavender, fiery red, classic navy, and verdant green.
Armani painted an exciting and inspiring scene that proved the icon
continues to have the range: everything from barely-there bra tops to
red carpet-ready embellished gowns made an appearance. It was a comeback
with panache, thus we’re certain there will be many more shows in the
City of Lights to come.
