Sophia Webster Fall 2014.
Titled “Heartbreak Hotel” Sophia Webster’s inspiration for her Fall 2014 collection stemmed from the anguish of young love gone awry. Funnily enough, there wasn’t a thing about her autumnal lineup that was bleak or daunting, brimming with the cuteness that has become synonymous with her brand. The designs were broken up into different scenes and moments with models chatting on the phone, getting dressed, luxuriating in the tub, and posing: all while wearing her latest confections from knee-high, peep-toe, shearling lined boots to graphic clutches boasting the phrase “Don’t Speak”.
Though resembling that of a high-fashion Barbie dream House, Webster was actually influenced by Bratz dolls: what’s more adorable than that? The fashions on display echoed that with sporty chic pink short suits, Winter-perfect earmuffs, pom pom-detailing, and fur trim and heart motifs wherever possible. Fur-trim clogs with metallic platforms might not be the most practical footwear shown this season, but they surely are among the most lively.
Stylish ladies including Lupita Nyong’o, Alesha Dixon, and Kourtney Kardashian are all avid fans of the brand and I predict that though bold, the collection’s knee-high strappy booties will make the biggest impact with the celeb set this year. A black leather geometric cutout pair were the most pared-down and will work with everything from cutoff shorts to a sheath that hits right above the knee, while a thigh-high pink and white pair with fur-trim and floral embroidery will certainly need to play centerstage with whatever look they accompany. In all, I was happy to see a little fun injected to the seriousness of Fashion Week: kudos to Webster for that!
What do you think of Sophia Webster’s Fall collection?
