Hair Vibes: Kim Kardashian West’s Messy Top Knot

Oh, how the hair Gods must love us! They’ve declared that a knot atop our heads is a must-wear ‘do for the summer season. And Kim Kardashian West’s take on the trend is a serious glam-slam. It seems that the top knot has taken a messy turn for the best… and we’re loving the ease of it all.
Here, hairstylist Justine Marjan, who created this ‘do on a plane en route to the Hamptons, New York for a Revolve soiree, breaks down how you, too, can steal this simple yet sexy style, complete with the products she used on Kim’s coif. Make your mane the main attraction:

1. Prep dry strands with Paul Mitchell Dry Wash ($16) and Paul Mitchel Spray Wax ($17).2. Brush through with a Marula Oil Detangling Brush ($30).3. Split the hair into two sections, the topmost section from ear to the crown of the head.4. Gather the top section into an ultra high ponytail, leaving loose some strands around the hairline, then securing with a hair elastic.5. Use your brush to gather the bottom half of the hair and attach to the top pony with a hair bungee ($4).6. Use Paul Mitchell Dry Wax ($18) throughout the length of the pony and mess it up with your fingers.7. Twist and knot the hair into a topknot, securing with bobby pins and french pins to hold.8. Pull loose any stray strands around the nape of the next, then use Marula Oil Perfecting Hairspray ($23) to finish.
