Hey ya’ll!It’s Friday! Of course, our week has been jam packed with so many memorable celebrity looks but, honestly, there were only a select few who were lucky enough to become top contenders in the Look of the Week feature.
Now, I’ll admit, this week’s selection was a little tough. With New York Fashion Week in full swing and endless outfit changes on deck, I was a little overwhelmed. But, nevertheless, i did tremendously!
So, keep reading to see who made the cut!
1) Lupita Nyong’o in Carolina Herrera

2) The Ladies of the #SlayForAChange Movement

When these four lovely ladies took Instagram (and Fashion Week) by storm, there was no doubt that I had to highlight their dynamic message within the weekly feature. In today’s day and age, the power of a picture is worth more than gold! A simple image can broadcast a monumental message throughout the entire world. And, this was the case for Shayla, April Joi, Kaye and Labrea. Their expertly styled ‘fits included bold, yet haunting, phrases that have impacted the African-American community for years. From the iconic motto “Don’t Shoot” to “Vogue Doesn’t Care About Ebony Issues”, these ladies proved that your voice can always be heard, no matter who you are!

After going viral on social media (in under a day), co-creator Shayla expressed the foundation on which #SlayForAChange was built. In her statement, she disclosed, “Slay for Change is an idea that has been formulating for over a year after the death of Sandra Bland. This idea was reignited by the death of Alton Sterling and Philando Castille. Fashion for my has always been my voice. And I felt the best way I could show my outrage, pain and disappointment was through the fabrics of my clothing.” Yes, honey! I live for fashion that makes a political statement!
3) Ciara in Haney
Ciara supported gal pal Serena Williams for her highly-anticipated New York Fashion Week Serena on HSN presentation as she uplifted an eye-catching metallic sweater dress by Haney. As we all know, CiCi loves to add a bit of “tomboy flair” to her ensembles and, in this case, a simple baseball cap was the go-to accent! The songstress topped off her look with edgy over-the-knee boots from Lust for Life and minimal accessories. Go girl!
4) Melanie Brown in Charbel Zoe
America’s Got Talent judge Melanie Brown and her stunning
daughter Phoenix graced the red carpet as they effortlessly slayed all
our lives! While Mel B opted for a flawless Charbel Zoe embellished two-piece set, Phoenix chose to kill it in a neutral-hued House of CB jumpsuit, a leopard print jacket from Zara and pastel yellow Monika Chiang lace-up heels. Talk about #MotherDaughterGoals!5) Karrueche Tran in The Blonds
New York Fashion Week was lit! The fashion crème de la creme showed
up (and showed out) as they attended the hottest presentations while
proving that the power of style transcends way beyond the runway. Our
girl Karrueche Tran kept
us updated on her countless wardrobe changes but it was this little
number that left us craving more! The actress/stylist was spotted at the
Lexus Lounge as she donned a soft pink strapless, gem-encrusted mini
dress from The Blonds, trendy metallic platforms and a sleek ‘do. Cute!6) Chrissy Teigen in Michael Kors

In other New York Fashion Week news, Michael Kors’s SS17 presentation was an elegant, star-studded affair. With Tinseltown heavyweights such as Cynthia Erivo and Olivia Palermo in attendance, his shows are always a hit. But, attendee Chrissy Teigen was an absolute vision in a black and white polka dot balmacaan, an ab-baring crop top and and skirt from the brand’s Resort 2017 collection. The model/television personality completed her look with Michael Kors own Access Bradshaw Smartwatch. Like I’ve said a million and one times before, prints are always a good idea! Honestly, this is all types of chic. Love it!
7) Christina Milian in Romeo Hunte and Thomas Wylde

Christina Milian caps off our final look of the week in a spicy red frock showcasing a Romeo Hunte tailored blazer dress, an exuberant fur collar from Thomas Wylde and classic Saint Laurent ankle strap sandals. We’d also like to send huge shoutout to super stylist Bryon Javar because he has been putting in working this entire Fashion Week! Christina looks fantastic!
