It's been FOUR MONTHS since we were left with poor Rhonda sprawled on
the floor of her mansion after being shoved down the stairs, so it was a
relief to pick up on her face and find out that she lived. What was
devastating, though, was later in the episode when i found out that the
little Lyon grandchild-to-be didn't make it. Andre was completely
gutted, obviously, and Rhonda thought that it was somehow her fault
because she didn't have any memory of the incident.
Later, when she realized she was actually pushed, she didn't tell Andre for some strange reason. Listen, we get that there's nothing worse than having to admit something you don't want to, but not telling your husband you were the victim of a violent crime simply because you don't want to validate his religious feelings is the ultimate in marital spite.
We still don't know who did the pushing, and we only saw the red sole of a Louboutin flat as it walked out the door. It could be anyone, but since it wasn't a woman's shoe don't you think Lucious is a viable candidate?
Now, as for Empire: Lucious is out as head of the company now that Mimi and Camilla are in charge. Mimi seemed to be pretty hands off about the whole thing, but Camilla wanted Hakeem to conspire with her and run the company.
Hakeem was torn and wasn't sure he wanted to be in charge, and turned to Jamal for advice. Jamal was frank, and told his baby brother that he hated running the company and thought Hakeem would hate it too. Later, Lucious took Hakeem down to the river where he killed Bucky, then proceeded to tell Hakeem he killed Bucky. Such a heartwarming threat between father and son!
It's not like Cookie was too happy about how Hakeem voted
against his family, but she is still in business with him at the label
they run together, so she only beat him with her purse, she didn't
threaten his life. We'll see more of this storyline unfold in the coming
weeks, but here's one thing to note: Camilla told Hakeem he needed to
break up with his singer girlfriend Laura, but Hakeem confessed to Jamal
that he's actually in love with her (for the first time in his life)
and then proceeded to take her virginity after he pledged he'd be
faithful to her. So that will clearly come back to bite him!
Meanwhile, Jamal's hookup with Skye resurfaced in a big way when Jamieson found out about the tryst. This could mean that the LGBT activist withdraws his support for Jamal in the award Jamal and Lucious are both competing for, giving Lucious an edge. This will also clearly play out over the next few episodes.
What did you think of the big Empire return? Empire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
