Dance Deliberately

teewhy-hive.blogspot.co.uk
We have plenty to be excited about this holiday season. Perhaps you or a loved one you’ve nurtured has achieved that long term goal successfully. Or maybe there have been one or two precious little ones added to the family, whose arrival has brought indescribable joy and bliss to your family dynamic (I so love being a grandmother). Maybe someone close to you has at last, found the life long love they’ve dreamed of and have decided to commence their journey through life together with a beautiful heartfelt ceremony. Whatever the occasion, the holidays are filled with so many of these wonderful instances to celebrate.

As I’ve matured more and more over the years, I’ve learned the value of cherishing these blissful moments in my life! Doing so consciously, especially around the holidays is extremely important too, because thoughts of lossed loved ones can sometimes be overwhelming. We all know first hand I’m sure, that the delight and joy we feel today can quickly become another sentiment tomorrow. So an effective way to capitalize and treasure life’s high moments, I’ve learned, is to simply dance deliberately.
Nothing like a spontaneous celebration to “up the emotional ante” and commemorate an exciting event. The small spike in activity raises our heart rate and endorphin levels giving us a natural high. Sense memory and muscle memory kick in, making the special circumstance more memorable than those stored as a mere memory in our minds. It doesn’t require a whole lot either to dance. A quick leap, jump, finger snap, spin, or twirl and…bam! You’ve got it! Dancing deliberately even helps lift your spirits later on during those junctures when in fact challenges do arise. So implementing the practice of pausing to indulge in a titillating two-step on a regular basis, is a great way all year long to preserve joy.
Life is too much of a precious gift not to make the most of each moment (especially the exciting ones) and a really easy way to do that very thing, is to dance deliberately. Wishing you and yours a joyous holiday season.
