First Lady Michelle Obama Discusses Education On BET’s ’106 & Park!’.
Michelle Obama made a guest appearance on BET’s “106 & Park” and showed the youth that it’s cool to be pretty and smart.
Rocking a black leather jacket and gray slacks, the FLOTUS shared the details of President Obama‘s “North Star” Goal, a new education initiative that aims to boost graduation rates and place the U.S. as the leading nation of college graduates by 2020.
As Mrs. Obama discussed the pivotal role education played in her life, show hosts Bow Wow and Keshia Chanté and the audience of New York City high school and college students listened to her every word.
Last week, she spoke to students at Bell Multicultural High School in Washington, D.C.
“No matter what the president does, no matter what your teachers and principals do, or whatever is going on in your home or neighborhood, the person with the biggest impact on your education is you,” she said. “It’s going to take young people like all of you across the country stepping up and taking control of your education.”
“I’m here today because I want you to know that my story can be your story,” she added. “The details might be a little different, but so many of the challenges and triumphs will be just the same.”
