Mara Hoffman is a designer known and lauded for her vivacious use of prints, thus it came as no surprise they were on tap for her Fall 2014 collection. However, this go-round there was a palpable air of sophistication that was practically impossible to ignore. From the moment the lights dimmed and the music started to boom from the speakers, I knew the show would be one to leave a lasting impression.

Hoffman found inspiration in North African art, landscapes, textiles, and jewelry. It became apparent almost immediately as garment after garment took their turn down the runway, each piece a touch more fascinating than the last.
Perhaps one of the most enjoyable facets of the collection is the idea that a wide array of women can find a piece to call her own. If you’re more understated, there’s a double camel intarsia pullover, cream silk blouse, and matching pant for you. If you’re hungry for a bold print, you might want to try the bazaar long coat and pant on for size.
There were a number of pieces I’d love to see take a jaunt down the red carpet. The braided fringe shaman cloak and braided fringe halter gown would look absolutely divine on style star Nicole Richie.
Then there was the black braided fringe deep v gown that moved wonderfully on the runway. I can imagine Rihanna turning heads in this spicy number.
All in all, it was a fantastic showing for Mara Hoffman. My personal favorite would have to be the sequin checkers tunic and pants. It looks wonderful in pictures, but even more dazzling in person.
