Michael Costello Fall 2014.
The crush of people at last night’s Michael Costello show was only a slight indication of The Project Runway Alum’s already risen star. Though he’s been a favorite of Fashion Bomb celebs for quite a few awards seasons, the world truly started to take notice of his talent when Beyoncé wore one of his delightfully sheer gowns to the 2013 Grammy’s.
Check them out below:
It seemed as if his Fall 2014 collection used Bey’s off white, floral embroidered gown as a jumping off point. Floor length stunners in ivory and off white whisked down the runway, all sharing similar sheer fabrications and body conscious fits.
Inspired by wintertime in New York City, Costello played with scintillating sequins in silver and white, a nod to Empire State skyscrapers sprinkled with glittery snow.
He ended his showing with a series of punchy red numbers in his signature fishtail silhouettes. He also showed his dexterity with draping, using flowing fabrics on wind catching gowns.
The Costello customer is thin, gorgeous, and unafraid to titillate in a slightly provocative frock. One of his biggest clients, Lilly Ghalachi from Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset came to town just for the show. About his designs, she said, “He makes sexy dresses that are so feminine and classy all at the same time. My dress is basically see through, but I don’t feel inappropriate. I don’t feel like it’s too much, even though it’s very provocative and very revealing. I love that he can capture that essence of sex while keeping it classy.”
And a snap of the designer.
Costello simply knows his customer and gives her what she wants!
Check out a few pix of celebs in attendance:
Nene Leakes swung by with husband Gregg.
Laura Govan looked like a bawse in a Tom Ford hat and Veronica Beard jumpsuit.
Adrienne Bailon looked cute as a button in a Michael Costello custom dress and Louboutin heels.
