Lala Anthony’s 5th & Mercer Pop Up Shop.
This past Friday night, Lala Anthony invited family, friends, and members of the press to a shopping experience for her clothing line, 5th & Mercer. In addition to shopping the collection, guests were treated to a runway show, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres. The name 5th & Mercer signifies the intersection between 5th avenue luxury and Mercer street edginess. In fact, Lala explained during the presentation that she sometimes calls her brand ‘cledgy,’ underscoring the collection’s sartorial mix of classy and edgy elements. While her initial offering bubbled over with athletic inspired basics like striped pants, zip skirts, and simple tees, her next generation of garments includes jazzy printed blazers, silken jumpsuits, bubblegum pink leather jackets, and fringed dresses, as Lala herself modeled during event.
There are definitely elements that can fit seamlessly into anyone’s wardrobe, along with statement pieces. I was a fan of the pink leather jacket, as was Instagram darling @IamJuju_.
Of course, as with anything Lala related, the star power was on 10. Take a look:
Lala’s mother posed with her adorable grandson Kiyan
Lala’s cousin and bestie, Dice, debuted a new haircut
Monica Brown was in the building looking snatched in a Burberry trenchcoat, Chanel bag, and Saint Laurent heels
Shannon Brown wasn’t too far behind, and posted up in plaid
Po Johnson and Power 105.1′s Charlamagne the God came out to support
And the family posed for a snap, with Lala in 5th & Mercer, and Carmelo Anthony in a leather jacket and a Givenchy Racecar tee
What have been some of her bestsellers? She said, “The pencil skirt with the zipper on back? I literally can’t keep it in stock! The dress that I wore on Bethenny and the Today show with the zipper all the way up [has done really well], so now we have it in all colors: white, black, red, and orange. Those are my top sellers, no matter what…”
… I’m creating other stuff. I have this fringe dress I’m going to make, so hopefully I can keep going. The t-shirt does really well. People have learned how to dress it up and down. I’ve seen it with skirts, with jeans, and with sweatpants, so it’s versatile and it’s affordable, which is what makes me the most happy.”
Any plans to expand to accessories? She said “I wanted to test the waters with this first, and it seems to be going really really well, so we’ll just see what happens from here.”
Alright!
That pink jacket is mine!
