Lemaire Fall 2015.
Christophe Lemaire just announced a collaboration with world-renowned brand, Uniqlo, thus Lemaire himself and design partner Sarah Linh-Tran truly have all eyes on them at the moment. They’re continuing that wave of success with their just-debuted Fall 2015 collection — brimming with simplicity and maturity, as well as radiating the kind of power that distinguishes the brand from all of the big wig names during Paris Fashion Week.
Eroticism inspired Lemaire, though of course not the kind we’re accustomed to with latex and cutout everything. Lemaire’s brand of carnal was marked by control and discipline: women who draw attention with restraint and effortlessness.
Skin was exposed in a composed and guarded way: an off-the-shoulder long-sleeve blouse and the plunging v-necklines of knee-length dresses. A bag was molded into the shape of breasts — there was no calm about that bold accessory though it was definitely cool.
Color was few and far between with a cozy red scarf giving a pop of color to an otherwise neutral look and a long-sleeve top tucked into a pair of high-waist cocoa-hued culottes. The pieces radiated an undeniable sense of self-possession and mettle with leather pumps and booties anchoring the assortment in modernity and realness.
An undeniable feeling of menswear was present with oversized coats, expertly-tailored blazers fit for work or play, functional button-front shirts, and wearable trousers. An impossible-to-miss cape felt fit for Sherlock Holmes, while a collarless shirt layered over a turtleneck borrowed from the boys in just the right way for the season.
Outerwear was an obvious focus with a grey wool duffle coat perfect for the most brisk Winter temperatures to a khaki double-breasted raincoat that could virtually be worn year-round. A quiet comfort oozed from every seam — seemingly very opposite to what catches the eyes of most in Paris but the kind of clothing that makes its mark in a modern-day woman’s wardrobe for years to come.
Thoughts on the latest from Lemaire?
