Fashion Scoop: Frank Ocean To Release Magazine, Lane Bryant Launches #ImNoAngel Campaign, DKNY Searches For A New Designer
While we don’t know how much fashion it will include, singer Frank Ocean
has announced he’s dropping a magazine this July. The first issue of
the magazine will coincide with the release of his third album entitled
Boys Don’t Care.As a personal fan, I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes
peeled for it. (Details)
Yesterday, plus-size brand Lane Bryant launched their #ImNoAngel
advertisements featuring Ashley Graham, Marquita bring, Candice Huffine
and more. Wearing Bryant’s Cacique collection, it’s clearly a direct
reaction to the longhand standards of what a Victoria’s Secret angel is.
The campaign is already getting quite the play on social media. (Huffington Post)
It’s pretty clear that fashion is a very important aspect of
Instagram. People rush to it every day to post their #OOTD and brands
pepper our timelines with gentle nudges to purchase their wares. Well
the CFDA is here to sort of chronicle that interaction with a new book
out April 14. Entitled Designers on Instagram: #Fashion, the book
includes over 250 snaps from CFDA designers broken into five
chapters(yes #Selfies has it’s own). Expect to catch glimpses from bands
like Marc jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg and The Row. (Harper’s Bazaar)
There might be some changes over at DKNY soon. Reports say that the
brand is looking to tap a new designer to refresh the youthful appeal of
the brand and has already been eyeing designers at Prabal Gurung and
Public School. While Maxwell Osborne at Public School said he’s already
pretty busy — he’s building both Public School as well as Black Apple —
Gurung didn’t comment. Neither has DKNY for that matter, which is being
headed up by Jane Chung at the moment. (The Fashion Spot)
Fashion week in New York has been having quite a busy year. Let’s
recap: Mercedes Benz has opted out of sponsorship, the event is leaving
Lincoln Center and a new iteration(Men’s Week) has been announced. And
now apparently things are about to start settling down. According to
CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, IMG should be announcing the location of
September’s NYFW very soon. Here’s to hoping we don’t have to go through
six layers of security to get in like at Lincoln Center. (Fashionista)
