Fashion Scoop: Nicki Minaj To Collaborate With Nike, Grace Coddington Celebrates 74th Birthday, Thakoon To Design For Kohl’s
- While Puma snagged Rihanna, Nike has tapped Nicki Minaj for a
collaboration. The rapper posted a series of photos featuring the
product on her Instagram this weekend, sadly without any release date.
The details we do know: the collaboration with Jordan Classic is called
the Pinkprint. Expect a bright purple sole and pink uppers. Look like
something you’d run out to buy? (MTV Style)
- It seems Target has another hit on their hands. Though it came with
criticism from both Lilly Pulitzer fans and the plus-sized community
(plus-sizes were only offered online), the Lilly for Target collection
has reportedly sold out. Fans got on Twitter to grumble about the
website crashing and retail locations selling out of product within
minutes of the release. And for those hoping to get it on a second go
round, you’re out of luck. “It’s not going to be restocked,” said a Target representative. “It’s
never our goal to sell out in a day; our goal in stores [is] from four
to six weeks. It’s definitely a limited-time run. We do not restock or
replenish. It really is a ‘Get it now before it’s gone’ type sale. Shop
early, shop often.” (Mashable)
- Sitting at the right hand of Anna Wintour for longer than anyone can
remember has been the red haired creative we’ve all come to love, Grace
Coddington. After winning our hearts in The September Issue and telling us her story in her memoir Grace, the industry stalwart celebrated her 74th birthday yesterday. Here’s to you Miss Coddington! (Refinery29)
- You may or may not have heard, but last week Balenciaga was on major sale. We’re talking “can I borrow some money because I’ve already spent mine and this is too good not to get more”
type of sale. Yes! That happened. Bags that usually run for $2,000 were
slashed down to $200 to $400 so you know, shoppers went in. Sadly
though, once Balenciaga got wind of the glitch in their website, they
shut it down and sent all of the “lucky shoppers” emails of regret.
While they doled out gift certificates for the mix-up, we doubt they
were enough to enough to buy a bag at full price. (Page Six)
- Another day, another designer collaboration. Though they aren’t
nearly as buzzy as Target, Kohl’s has been delving into their own string
of link-ups, the latest being with Thakoon. The designer partnership
will be the seventh of it’s kind for DesigNation and will cite
inspirations from London. Expect it to hit stores, this fall. (StyleBlazer)
