Our lives can get cluttered very quickly. We multi task now on so many levels that for some of us, the amount of time we spend engaged on our cell phones alone, easily equates to a full time job. To say nothing of the numerous roles, responsibilities and relationships we juggle between cellular activity.
A full life is an amazing blessing and a wonderful challenge to have but as lavish as such a life is, we all need moments of solitude, simplicity, even emotional/psychological solidarity. Moments when we step away from demanding routines and just get back to one. One being essentially who we are before we begin sharing the numerous pieces of ourselves with the world.
There is something regenerating about retreating either formally on a planned getaway or quieting things just for a weekend at home. Perhaps your life is so demanding that sacred solitude is a time you must designate early in the morning before the rest of the world comes alive. Either way this time spent reconnecting with God and your inner voice is critical to making sure you remain focused, sane, and committed to previously set goals/ambitions.
Building and maintaining an extravagantly layered life is achievable as well as richly rewarding as long as somewhere amid all the frenzy you are sure to make going back to one a reoccurring ritual.
