Rihanna Inks $25 Million Sponsorship Deal with Samsung

Rihanna is getting her money. The singer has inked an unprecedented $25 million deal with Samsung to sponsor her upcoming album and tour.
According to the New York Post, the Rihanna deal was seven months in the making and took longer than expected because Rihanna made some last-minute changes to her album Anti.
Jay Z and Rihanna’s manager Jay Brown helped close the deal. Jay Z was pictured leaving the Samsung offices earlier this month, prompting rumors that he was selling TIDAL, but he was reportedly there to discuss the Rihanna partnership.
Samsung plans to use Rihanna to help promote its Galaxy line of products and wants exclusive use of Rihanna-related video content for its Milk Music app.
Roc Nation has a long and profitable history with Samsung. In 2013, the South Korean electronics giant bought 1 million copies of Jay Z’s album Magna Carta… Holy Grail and distributed them for free via its Galaxy devices.
Rihanna has yet to announce an official release date for her eighth album Anti, but it is expected to arrive before the end of the year.

30 Years In The Game: Salt-N-Pepa Honored By ASCAP

30 years after making their debut, Salt-N-Pepa can still rock a crowd as evidenced by their performance of Shoop last night at ASCAP’s Women Behind The Music series. The annual event that praises female pioneers and game-changers brought out industry insiders, media and legends like Sylvia Rhone.
The hip-hop duo (Spinderella wasn’t in attendance, but the ladies acknowledged her) revealed the secret to their longevity in an interview with ASCAP VP Nicole George-Middleton.
The ladies elaborated,
“We were friends before we were a group, I think a lot of groups are thrown together. We actually love each other.” They stressed authenticity and treating their friendship like a marriage (that included counseling).
“We brought fun, fashion and femininity to hip-hop and I think a lot of women and men appreciated that,” they added.
It wasn’t long before Pepa had the crowd rolling with laughter with her outgoing personality.

Lionel Richie has an epic sense of humor.
When Adele released her now-hit single, "Hello," people immediately started to liken it to Richie's famous tune of the same name. With the Internet insanely creative these days, obviously people took the opportunity to turn her music video and song into funny Vines.
But Richie was tickled by one creation in particular: a mashup of his video and hers. Nicole Richie's father Instagrammed the clip that splices similar footage together. In it he sings to Adele and asks, "Is it me you're looking for?" Adele abruptly hangs up. He also shared a split pic of the two of them on the phone and captioned it, "HELLO @adele is it me you're looking for...#hello."

Nope, I can hardly believe it either, but Gabrielle Union turns 43 today!
It's been more than 15 years since she first caught our eye Bring It On, but little has changed over time. She's just as drop-dead gorgeous as ever, and her sense of style hasn't faded in the slightest—in fact, it may just be getting better with time. Because no matter the occasion (i.e. heading to dinner with NBA-star hubby, Dwyane Wade, hitting up fashion shows or just running errands), Gabrielle knows how to pull off any look, and we dig it. It's no secret Gabrielle loves to take make bold fashion statements, and she did just that in slate grey, pinstripe shorts set with a matching trench coat and then again in an elegant fitted Sophia Ka fitted dress with rose gold Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. The Balmain x H&M campaign is on fire! With fashion favorites continually rocking the brand’s designs to the highly anticipated runway presentation, I think it’s safe to say that this is (potentially) one of the biggest collaborations of the year.

On Monday, video taken by frightened students in a high school classroom was released, showing a White male police officer physically attempting to restrain an African-American female student at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina. In the video, it is clear that the student was sitting in a desk when Ben Fields entered the room, approached her, grabbed her by her neck and arms, body slammed her to the floor while still entangled in the desk, and dragged her on the floor to the door of the classroom.
It’s not the first time that young Black females have been assaulted by law enforcement officers. But as we call for justice, we also need to stay informed so as to protect ourselves, our families and our communities. Here is what you need to know about the case and what it means for students nationwide.
According to some of the eyewitnesses, the student was asked to put her cell phone away during class, but did not do so. School officials were called, along with Officer Ben Fields. What transpired next was captured on the cellphone of other students in the room, many of whom have come forward to express just how deeply his actions were uncalled for.

Rihanna Teaming With Cara Delevingne for Sci-Fi Film Valerian

BFFs Rihanna and Cara Delevingne will both be a part of Luc Besson's Valerian. The film, which Dane DeHaan and Clive Owen have also signed up for, is being adapted from the sci-fi graphic novel of the same name.
Besson posted the news to his Instagram, along with a barrel of exclamation points and a smiley face. Production begins in France in January and the movie is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
The big-budget film is based on Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres’ graphic novel and takes place in the 28th century when humanity discovered time travel.
Rihanna previously starred in 2012’s Battleship and lent her voice to the animated blockbuster Home.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star opens up to People magazine about her and Lamar's situation and explains that everything is far more complicated than it appears. "It's out in the media that we are back together, but I wish people understood that's not in our thought process right now," Khloé tells the magazine.
"There are too many other important things, too many medical things. It's not even in our brains thinking about us as a couple or having a relationship right now. There is a very long road ahead of him, and he has to walk that road by himself. But I'll be there supporting him every step of the way."
Lamar was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel Oct. 13 following a drug overdose, and Khloé has been by his side in the hospital ever since; however, the E! star insists she only wants to be there for him while he recovers.
