Let Your Actions Speak Louder By Majorie Harvey
Twitter fights, social media rants… we all have a lot to say. As American as apple pie and the colors red, white, and blue, so too is our right as US citizens to exercise free speech. Now more than ever there are a myriad of platforms for people to express their opinions, thoughts, and ideas; sometimes to their credit and other times to their detriment. When you factor in the usage of comment sections on most digital platforms, the opportunity for each of us to make a statement becomes infinite, or at least it seems that way.
Whether written or spoken, words are extremely powerful. Like tattoos on delicate skin, they can leave indelible imprints on the mind, body, and spirit, for better or for worse. But in a time where many can find courage and empowerment by typing words on a mobile device or keyboard, the fact still remains that a much more powerful alternative exists: the power of action.
I’ll share a secret…One of the things that deeply connects my husband and I beyond the surface are our shared, deep-seated core values. We both sincerely love God, place a considerable amount of importance on family, and have immense compassion for helping children succeed. We also greatly esteem character, virtue, and humility. This doesn’t at all mean we’re perfect. Anybody who knows anything about our stories knows that, but it does mean that we are not only inspired to talk a good talk, but to live it as best we can. Steve exemplified this by going above and beyond in his efforts to amend his Miss Universe error.
I knew some time ago I wanted to be a great mother, a loving wife to my husband, someone who inspired children to soar. I also knew I wanted to help couples nurture lasting relationships, aid blended families in navigating through difficult dilemmas, and even demystify aspects of the couture world for aspiring fashionistas who have a passion for fashion. So many of these dreams have now come true not because I talked about them but because I purposed in my heart to pursue them.
I’ll share with you one more secret: this kind of divine fruition comes only from quieting yourself from too much talk and chatter. It requires listening to your most intimate dreams and desires. Once your hear them and get the ok from up above to act on them, hold on to them tightly. Pursue them with everything you’ve got. In time, if you persevere both God and the universe He created will respond, honoring your actions.
