Tell Your Story By Majorie Harvey

Content…content…content. Everywhere you look, there’s a need/demand for it. Social media platforms are expanding constantly and so are so many other networks. From comments to captions, videos to tweets, like a bottomless sea, there are a gazillion different ways nowadays to share your thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

Interestingly enough, however, as seemingly open and transparent as we are about sharing the details of our everyday lives, I’ve noticed we are sometimes a little more apprehensive about sharing the more meaningful details of our life story. By that I mean we often share the mundane (i.e., what we ate for lunch) instead of the more substantive. Stories of how we’ve managed to overcome obstacles, face fears, and achieve personal success; this is real content!
Last week I wrote a piece called Supernatural in honor of international women’s day and the incredible, nearly impossible, fetes women achieve on a regular basis. But whether you are are male or female, young or seasoned (wink), I’m sure you have a story to tell. My grandmother called it ‘your testimony’ and it is. What have you persevered through? What have you survived and learned to even thrive-through? Your story matters so much because somewhere, right now, someone is going through something remarkably similar and it would mean the world to them to know a life on the other side of their struggle is possible. There is something about realizing we are not alone in our trials or triumphs that gives each of us strength. So while you’re swept up in the current trend of creating content, don’t forget somewhere in the ebb and flow of its pull, it’s important to tell your story. It just might help inspire someone else to live their best life.
