How To Do Makeup’s Hottest Spring Trend: Bright Eyeshadow

teewhy-hive.blogspot.co.uk
For spring, there’s no hotter makeup trend than bold and brightly colored eyeshadow. Think the look-at-me vibe of Kim Kardashian sporting yellow in Tokyo, or pretty-in-pink Viola Davis on the Oscars red carpet.

Sources spoke to celebrity makeup artist Tia Danzler, who has worked with Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, Mary J. Blige, and Issa Ray, about how to rock the look for each skin tone. “Bright, bold eyeshadow shades and colored eyeliners are all the rage this spring,” she says, adding: “These intense colors bring out a touch of liveliness to the face.”
Here’s how to get the look:
IF YOUR SKIN TONE IS FAIR
“Apply a dark green shadow to really pop your eyes,” says Dantzler. Try MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in New Crop ($16) or Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Loaded ($20).

IF YOUR SKIN TONE IS MEDIUM
Dantzler recommends gold and copper metallic for medium skin tones, like gold shades e.l.f. Cosmetics Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Enchanted ($3) or Too Faced Pure Gold Ultra-Fine Face & Body Glitter ($17), or go for copper shades, like Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot ($22) and Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles in Golden Copper ($12).

IF YOUR SKIN TONE IS DARK
For darker skin tones, Dantzler adores shimmering purple, such as shadows like NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Jolie Poupee ($36) or Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow ($13).

IF YOUR SKIN TONE IS DEEP
Those with deepest skin tones are best served by rocking orange. “It’s a really flattering color pop on deeper skin tones,” she explains. Try Make Up For Ever Artist Color Eye Shadow in Suspiciously Sweet ($16) or NYX Professional Makeup Primal Colors in Hot Orange ($3).

And don’t forget, no matter your skin tone, keep the rest of your makeup simple. “When wearing bold colors on your eyes, keep your lip shades subtle to allow the focus to be on the eyes,” says Dantzler.
