Roberto Cavalli Fall 2014.

Red Hot is the best way to describe Roberto Cavalli‘s Fall 2014 show. From the models parading around a ring of fire, to the stifling heat of the show venue, to the flames decorating skirt hems, Cavalli unapologetically turned up the temperature for his latest, doing what he does best with a scorching touch. Cavalli is not one to hold his tongue. He doesn’t pander to celebrities or star editors; he’s of the age where he says and does what he wants. It might not bode well for critics, but works just fine for consumers.

His luxe animal printed aesthetic was infused with a 20′s flapper touch for Fall, with fringed skirts comprising most looks. Fantastic fur coats and stoles added to the inferno, swaddling sweating models under their imposing bulk.

Black and whites predominated the showing, which eventually led to punches of blue and moments of burning red.

Cavalli can sometimes make people uncomfortable, whether with his words or with his choice of show settings. But in an era of pandering and obsequiousness, he stays true to himself, even if it makes people squirm.

The collection was signature Cavalli, dialed down for the most part with the exception of a few fiery frocks. Beautiful and bold, I’m sure we’ll see Beyonce in more than a few looks.
