Fashion Scoop: CFDA to Honor Pharrell Williams with Fashion Icon Award, Pyer Moss Has Been Profitable Since Their First Year, Marc Jacobs Now On Instagram.
- Last year Rihanna made waves when she turned up at the CFDA Awards
in a see through Adam Selman gown to collect her Fashion Icon Award. And
though we’re sure his look won’t be see through, we expect that
Pharrell Williams’s look will cause a bit of chatter when he heads to
pick up his fashion icon award this year. Congrats to Mr. Williams!(Vibe)
- You might know the brand Pyer Moss from their 11 names shirt that
the designer Kerby Jean-Raymond produced in honor of slain men of color
(or from the leather jackets that have appeared on Rihanna and Usher).
But the brand is more than celebrity dressing–in fact the buzzy new
brand is only two years old and has been profitable since the first
fiscal year due to the prudent and pragmatic planning of Jean-Raymond.
His key to success? Owning his factory. (Complex)
- Need new shoes? M.Gemi, which launched yesterday, aims to disrupt
the system by cutting out the middleman and going straight to the
consumer. The result? Lower prices and a promise of new styles every
week. M.Gemi might become a new bookmark!(Fashionista)
- Planning on trying to model for American Apparel? Well the company
is headed in a new direction with it’s new CEO and that direction calls
for “real models.” You know the type, tall, impossibly thin, a European visage. Yea that. The types of people that they aren’t looking for “Instagram hoes or thots.” Yeah, they really said that. (Animal)
- Even though he was just decrying social media, Marc Jacobs has
fallen in line. With a first post that’s characteristically cheeky, the
designer launched his own personal account. “No filter, (some filler)!” (The Fashion Spot)
