Killing The Game: Serena Williams Defeats Maria Sharapova In Wimbledon Semifinals

Serena Williams is looking more and more on track to win her second “Serena Slam.”
Williams defeated Maria Sharapova (for the 18th time, by the way) in the Wimbledon semifinals today. Williams earned a comfortable win against Sharapova with her powerful return, dominating the match with cool ease against her unnerved opponent.
She’s now secured her spot in the women’s finals.
Earlier this week, she defeated her older sister Venus Williams, in what could be their final matchup against each other in their careers.
Williams has already won the Australian and French Opens this year, as well as the U.S. Open late last year. With that, she may be on track to win all four Grand Slams, aka the “Serena Slam.” She’s won Wimbledon five times prior to this match, so it’s hardly out of the realm of possibility.
When asked about her victories, she’s played coy on the topic, dodging reporter questions about the possibility of her “Serena Slam,” much like any queen would.
She previously achieved a “Serena Slam” in 2003.
