With his sophomore album Dreams Worth More Than Money in stores this week, Meek Mill paid a visit to Angie Martinez on Power 105.1. The Dreamchasers boss discussed his time behind bars, his new music, and his high-profile relationship with his dream girl, Nicki Minaj.
He revealed that it was Nicki who convinced him to record his new single “All Eyes On You.” He was hesitant at first, but she told him that he needed a radio record. “It be like World War III up in [the studio],” he said of the recording process.
He admits that they kept their relationship a secret for a while. “She would just be sitting back worried how people were gonna take it because she was making new decisions in her life,” he said. “But I never really cared what people be saying.”
Nicki has since been very public about their relationship on Instagram, and Meek has also showed his girl love on social media. “She do that with me, so I make sure I support her the same way and give her the same,” he said. “She can’t be on there flaunting me and I’m just not saying nothing, so I make sure I flaunt that too.”
His love life has also made him more sensitive and open in his music. “I never been wanting to write these girly raps, and I ain’t superly, superly mean it, so now I’m in a situation… I can come with them all day too.”
But while they may be in love, they are not engaged and Nicki is not pregnant, despite the rumors.
Plus, Meek also spoke about getting advice from Jay Z and Nas, his stance on LGBT rights, and his favorite new artists.
