“Like mother, like daughter,” a common
phrase that has been bounced about for decades and likely rung true for
millions of mommies and their minnie-mes… same laugh, same smile, same
style. Fashion sensibilities are often shared from generation to
generation. It’s no wonder that trends on the runway for women find
their way into the children’s market. Couture and Ready-To-Wear styles
from Resort 2016 have already popped up in tiny sizes.
Valentino always wows with their wonderful
prints. Their Resort 2016 collection was no exception. Designers Maria
Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli decorated classic silhouettes with
whimsical and wanderlust-inspiring prints. From garden flowers to Native
American motifs, the textiles were magical. And similarly fun prints
can be found for your little ones, too. Feminine details are one of the signatures
of Elie Saab. For Resort 2016, his take on elevated everyday pieces was
spot-on. An eyelet dress is as essential for a summer wardrobe as a LBD
is for year round. Saab delivered this staple in its highest form, and
there are a plethora of eye-catching eyelets for girls. The popular ’50s and ’60’s silhouette of
cinched waists with bow accents were everywhere at Erdem’s Resort 2016
show. Erdem’s vintage-inspired collection was breathtakingly beautiful
exuding fierce femininity, making it equal parts sugar and spice. The
bow at the waist is a sweet classic detail that is fun to mix with
modern textures and prints.
Pleats are a classic detail that polish any
look. Fendi’s Resort collection incorporated this delightful detail in
countless looks. Karl Lagerfeld always delivers timeless and
sophisticated styles, so it makes sense to see this traditional element
woven through his show. The pleat is particularly perfect for the little
ones as it evokes a girly, feminine innocence.
