A Beauty Chat With Oprah’s Pedicurist

ped1
Being a pedicurist is a rather niche art form. While there are celebrity manicurists aplenty, a seriously talented and savvy pedicurist is a bit more rare… Until we met Gloria Williams, celebrity pedicurist for the likes of Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, and, of course, Oprah Winfrey. Learning the craft of the “rub down” from her mother, Gloria began her illustrious career as a highly sought-after pedicurist and the founder of Footnanny, a coveted line of creams, soaks, and treatments to keep you, well, comfortably on your feet.

Here, As Gloria talks about all things toe-related, from the It lacquers for winter to a super simple and effective DIY scrub to Oprah’s favorite foot treatment:
What are the It toe colors for winter?
Gloria Williams: (1) Opi I’m Not Really A Waitress, (2) Essie Aruba Blue, and (3) CND Shellac Steel Gaze.

TLLC: Do you have any special tips on how to prevent your pedicure from chipping?
GW: Yes apply cuticle oil to your toe nails 24-hours after your fresh pedicure.  This way your polish won’t become brittle and chip.
ped4
TLLC: Are gel pedicures a do or don’t?
GW: Do! Especially in the winter months. Just make sure to use high end gel polish, like CND, OPI, Gelish, and Cuccio, along with the brand’s Soak Off Solution to avoid damage to the natural nails.

TLLC: What kinds of hydrators do you recommend to keep your feet soft and touchable, especially in brutal winter months?
GW: Footnanny Foot Cream because it is the best and the combinations of Soy, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, and Essential Oils are combined to target dry skin. Apply a generous amount of Footnanny Foot Cream to both feet, then put on your Footnanny treatment socks or fuzzy socks and leave them on for at least 1 hour. Your feet will feel smoother and moisturized without leaving a greasy coating.

TLLC: What is a wonderful DIY scrub recipe that you use on your clients?
GW: Combine a 1/2 cup of fine sea salt, a sprinkle of black pepper, and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Do not apply the scrub in the shower; only use while soaking your feet in a foot basin.
ped7
TLLC: What is Oprah’s go-to color and her favorite treatment?
GW: Earth tones and Footnanny #2000 treatment with combined strokes of Reflexology, Raki, and Thai Stretch Massage from foot to knee.
ped8
TLLC: After a night out on the town in 4-inch stilettos, what are your tips to give feet some TLC?
GW: Soak in Footnanny foot salts combined with warm water for 20 minutes. Dry your feet with towel, apply Footnanny Eucalyptus Foot Cream and slide on your Footnanny Cotton Treatment Socks. Let the product and sock provide the pressure with the healing of essential oils.
