J.Crew Says They Are Not Dropping Prices Afterall.

J.Crew January Style Guide
Yesterday, I reported that J.Crew boss Mickey Drexler was planning on lowering the steep price points the store has become known for. Drexler promised “friendlier” (which we, and… everyone else assumed meant lower) prices coming this spring, but J.Crew has come out today to clarify the CEO’s words: “We are simply maintaining a balance of pricing across the board and better communicating to our customers what we have and why it is worth the price it is,” Womp. “Emphasis for us is always on the quality and design at best possible price.” So, they’re instead going to try to convince us that paying $112 for a cotton popover with a couple plastic jewels sewed on the collar is totally reasonable because… it’s from J.Crew? Color me disappointed! (Vogue UK)
