Fashion Scoop: Galliano For Margiela Will Debut In London, J. Crew Is Collaborating With A 4-Year-Old, Cosmo Was A September Top Seller.

John Galliano will debut his first full collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London this January.  The “Artisanal” haute couture line will debut on January 12 “around tea time” and then the collection will be reshown in Paris during couture week by appointment only. The first Galliano for Marigela design debuted at the British Fashion Awards, worn by Anna Wintour. (Business of Fashion)

  • When Kathy Griffin hits the screen for Fashion Police, don’t expect her to hold any punches. “This was a job that was held by our dear friend Joan Rivers, so I understand I have some very, very large shoes to fill,” she declared. “So, in her honor, I will not be holding back. I am giving no passes, I am going to let people have it, I am going to bring the hammer down.” And with her trademark humor, let the hilarity ensue. (The Fashion Spot)

  • When J. Crew hears the maxim of “invest in the next generation” they really take it to heart.  The brand has tapped four-year-old Mayhem to design a line of clothing, accessories and shows for Crewcuts, a J. Crew line.  If you’ll remember, Mayhem shot to prominence after making intricate paper gowns.  Well now, the tot has taped dresses and other designs together to serve as mock-ups for a nine-style line.  And what are you doing with your life? • In other Jenna Lyons news, the creative director happened to be one of the women to meet the Duchess of Cambridge on the Royal NYC visit.  The two met at the Creativity is Great reception. This was of course only after Middleton had already met Beyonce! Just a casual trip to New York, you know. (Hollywood Reporter)

  • Since September issues are big for fashion magazines, the number of newsstand sales are pretty important for the big guns.  And the biggest gun this year as told by those sales: Cosmopolitan.  Fashion bible Vogue came in at third while InStyle magazine(who has always had a strong newsstand sale through rate) secured the silver spot.  Amongst the losers: W, Details and Teen Vogue. If you’re looking for a bit of time on TV that will possibly parlay itself into a real life fashion gig, listen up. Diane von Furstenberg is casting for what we are assuming will be the next season of House of Furstenberg. In the show, contestants compete to become a valued member — international brand ambassador — of the Furstenberg team. If you think you’ve got what it takes, you should definitely look into it.
