Down in warm and sunny Miami, Art Basel 2014 is in full effect!
The event brings together the latest from thousands of the most talented artists and over 50,000 art lovers that will gather at more than 1,000 galleries. Sounds overwhelming! From all the way in miserably cold Chicago (ok, to be fair it was a whopping 40 degrees today!), I’ve been getting the scoop on some exhibitions that can’t be missed.
Enter Hunter & Gatti’s ‘I Will Make You A Star‘ exhibit. There’s been buzz around the pieces from the creative duo, who are well-known fashion photographers with a love for painting. Their intention to merge fashion photography with art was inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat’s neo-expressionist artworks. More specifically, the moment in Basquiat’s career that his work caught the eye of art dealer Rene Ricard at a party and promised to make the young artist a star.
The duo, comprised of Cristian Borillo and Martin Cespedes, painted over editorial and campaign photographs they shot of celebs like Pharrell, Bruno Mars and Diane Kruger.
“I Will Make You A star” will be displayed at SLS South Beach Hotel’s Katsuya restaurant the month of December, for those of you who are lucky enough to be dodging the frigid winter and would love to check out the exhibit!
