All-Black Everything. The words could not have rung so true than at Alexander Wang’s Fall 2015 RTW collection presented yesterday in New York. Giant metal-clad platform boots were the order of the day and came with every look, evoking a total boss attitude (much needed if you ask me).
In his tried-and-true tradition, Wang opted to show several accessories in this presentation – a few backpacks, school-boy parcels, rounded duffels, and small bags, all decorated with metal stud detailing.
There was the all-important element of effortless cool, which Wang has seamlessly mastered in the course of several seasons. The slicked-back hair said, “I just wet my hair and I’m letting it dry this way on purpose.” The oversized cable-knit sweaters, flannel jackets, and baggy denim were casually vintage, but definitely not something you would find at your neighborhood haunt in Brooklyn. Looped chains and three-columned buttons adorned vests, blazers, and coats for extra effect.
Faithful fans Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian, Baby North, and Kanye took notice from the front row. I can envision the ladies (save North) rocking the chain mail mesh body-fitting dresses in the near future. For the rest of us, Wang artfully combined black-on-black fantasy we could wear with ease.
