DIY: What To Do When Your Beauty Treatment Goes Wrong

teewhy-hive.blogspot.vo.uk
We’ve all been there: You get home after a beauty treatment, look in the mirror and see what appears to be a total disaster…spray tan smeared all down your neck, anyone? Or what about that giant zit on your cheek after what was supposed to be a pore-cleansing facial?
These situations are the absolute worst but, luckily, i have a few DIY solutions for five (potential) beauty treatment disasters:

Eyelash Extensions
For some, the only thing stopping them from getting lash extensions is one thing: the glue. Most professionals will use medical-grade adhesive, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t get a bit irritated every once in awhile.

So, what can you do? The experts at AlluringLengthLashes.com recommend that you take an antihistamine (allergy medication), remove all lashes and adhesive (more on that below), rinse your eyes for about five minutes with water, and then apply a cool compress to soothe the area/reduce any potential swelling.

Here’s how to remove the lashes and glue: Mix together 1 tablespoon castor oil, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, and 2 teaspoons of canola oil. Take a cotton ball, dipped in the mixture, and gently wipe it across your lashes (but don’t rub too hard), then rinse your eyes with water, per the directions above.
Facial or Peel
Breakouts and/or irritation after a facial or peel are totally normal, unfortunately. Since your skin is essentially being exfoliated and cleaned out, it’s common that underlying bacteria will come up to the top and may also cause some inflammation and redness.

So, what can you do? Help the zit heal as quickly as possible by applying an acne-fighting spot treatment, a la Kendall Jenner. Jenner mixes half a teaspoon of baking soda, half a teaspoon of lemon juice, and a teaspoon of honey to “dry out” her pimples.

If redness and irritation is your problem, try a cold milk compress. Simply soak a clean cloth in a bowl with equal parts milk, ice cubes, and water (non-fat milk for oily skin). Lay the cloth on your face for about five minutes to soothe and soften.
Spray Tan
Weird streak marks from sweating down your neck? Yep. A “missed spot” close to your under arm? Check, check.
beauty5
So, what can you do? First thing’s first: Mix together a little lemon juice with a few teaspoons of baking soda (until it becomes a paste), get in the shower and start exfoliating those streaks. The powdery lemon mixture should blend the color a bit better, if not totally take off the spray tan, depending on how dark you went from your natural skin tone.
Hair Extensions
There are several different types of hair extensions – clip-in, weft, tape-in, etc. – so it can be confusing to figure out exactly what version is best for you and your hair. That said, they can be REALLY bad if you don’t go to someone who knows how to properly apply them, and what kind of extension is right for you.
beauty6
So, what can you do? If you have a few extensions that need to be removed asap (Keratin or tape-in), applying any combination of olive, almond, or coconut oil should help. While we don’t recommend removing these by yourself in a non-emergency, oil has been known to break down the adhesive in both Keratin and tape-in extensions, so if you’re really in a bind, you may be able to easily pull them out after 15 minutes of soaking.
Teeth Whitening
While the results of teeth whitening are great, we’ve often heard that the actual process can be: “the worst pain of my life” and “I thought my mouth was literally on fire.” The pain is usually a result of light-activated whitening.
beauty7
So, what can you do? If you’re really feeling the burn after your treatment (no pun intended), take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication and make sure to only brush your teeth with a soft bristled toothbrush for the next day or two.

You can also mix together 2-3 teaspoons of salt into a tall glass of warm water. Swig the salt water around in your mouth and then spit out. Try this a few times and your aching should alleviate.
