Five Fab Makeup Trends
With fall just around the corner, now is the perfect time to give those makeup bags a good spring (or autumn, rather!) clean. Summer is all about light and shimmery products built to withstand the heat. Once the weather gets a bit cooler, however, deeper, more polished textures and colors come into play.
The fall beauty trends coming off the runways didn’t disappoint: makeup this season is playful, colorful, and made to have fun with.
Here, five fall beauty trends you should be excited about.
Double-Accented Nails
Two-toned nails will be everywhere: funky half-nail colors alternating in every conceivable shade. Three shades in particular that popped up over and over again? Camel-toned neutrals, grey, and golds.
Try: (1.) Essie Sand Tropez ($9) or (2.) OPI Nail Polish in Tiramisu for Two ($9), (3.) Jin Soon in Auspicious ($18), (4.) Pacifica 7 Free Nail Polish in Dolphin ($5) or (5.) Gucci High Gloss Nail Lacquer in Black Gold ($30), or (6.) Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Fast in Go For Gold ($5).
Cotton Candy Blush
Glowing skin has been on point for years, and that trend shows no sign of going away anytime soon. The current look is cotton candy: blushes in the softest, girliest, most gorgeous pink imaginable, swept across the entirety of the cheek from the apple to the temple.
Try: (7.) CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Natural Rose ($3), (8.) Milani Rose Powder Blush in Tea Rose ($8), (9.) Tom Ford Cheek Color in Disclosure ($60), or (10.) Make Up For Ever Artist Face Color in Cold Pink Blush ($23).
No Foundation-Foundation
Last fall was all about perfectly made-up skin; this year, we’re taking a step back and embracing the no-foundation-foundation trend. Skin breathes, glows, and looks natural, healthy, even occasionally dewy. (That means no powder!) Get the look by choosing a breathable foundation or a BB cream.
Try: (11.) Dior Diorskin Nude BB Cream ($45), (12.) Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation ($52), (13.) Black Radiance True Complexion BB Cream ($5), or (14.) IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème ($13).
Deep Berry Lips
For years, candy apple red has been the shade du jour. In 2017, red is still au currant, but in a deeper, berry-colored shade that’s closer to oxblood or plum. To make it modern, keep it glossy, rather than matte.
Try: (15.) MAC lipstick in Party Line-Creamsheen ($18), (16.) Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Lip Color in Burgundy Blush ($6), or (17.) Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Eggplant ($26).
Metallic Eyeshadows
When it comes to eyeshadow, there wasn’t a single shade that ruled the runways—however, there was definitely a tone that took first prize: metallic. From gold to silver to burgundy to copper, metallics are it for fall. Try wearing a pop of a metallic like gold on your eyelids. If you’re really feeling bold, sweep it all the way from lash line to your brow. (And if you’re shy, a sweep of metallic eyeliner will get you on board with the trend.)
Try: (18.) Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Moondust ($21), (19.) Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal 24H Cream Eyeshadow in Barely Branded ($6), (20.) L’Oreal Paris Infalliable 24H Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe ($7), (21.) MAC Multi-Use Pigment in Blonde’s Gold ($22) or (22.) Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Comex Copper ($32). For eyeliner, try: (23.) Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Cuff ($22) or (24.) NYX Studio Liquid Crystal Body Liner in Liquid Gold ($4).
