Moschino Pre-Fall 2014.
There’s no better study on how to make it in America (and Italy for that matter) than by looking at the trajectory of Jeremy Scott’s career. One of the places the designer honed his skills was as an intern at Moschino and now he is the fashion house’s Creative Director: is there any more compelling success story? Looks from Scott’s first collection are up for public ogling and the transition was virtually seamless: his knack for whimsy matched perfectly with the brand’s love for humorous and flirty fashion.
Check out more of the collection below:
The Moschino logo has become a trend in of itself in the past few years, thanks to the fashion house’s gilded belt boasting its name. Scott played with the iconic appellation here, sprawling it across that aforementioned waist-adorning piece, the neckline of a LBD (no jewelry necessary), classic black quilted patent leather shoulder bags, collarless jackets that put a spin on quintessential “ladies who lunch” attire, and more.
Scott excels at athletic-inspired gear (thanks to his namesake line and ongoing collaboration with Adidas Originals) and he transferred that sporty chic vibe here with sweater knit bomber jackets, quilted leather anoraks, jersey-influenced number graphics, and a pair of lace-up white and red boots with baseball seaming. One can’t wear any of these pieces on a court or field, but who’s checking?
A feisty collection would be nothing without a little animal print, thus the fashion house’s signature cow pattern was splattered on a boxy overcoat, ankle-strap cap toe pumps, a leather moto jacket, and a matching leather pencil skirt.
The designs gave way to fashion of a daintier persuasion with florals, tie-waist frocks, and kitschy negligée fronts accenting a functional trench coat and shirt dress.
Lupita Nyong’o, Nicki Minaj, and Solange Knowles were among the stylish stars who sported Moschino in 2013 and there are a few looks here that can definitely work for them in 2014. A gold button-accented skirt suit will look wondrous against Lupita’s luminescent skin, while a black satin bustier gown with a wrap skirt could work for Ms. Minaj’s curves.
Thoughts on Moschino’s Pre-Fall offerings?
