#PoorMichelle may have been a trending topic on Twitter yesterday, but the former Destiny’s Child singer is #winning!
Michelle Williams is gearing up to hit the road for a new North American tour. She’s starring in the remake of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” a 1970s musical about the last days of Jesus.
The Gospel powerhouse, who will play Mary Magdalene in the production, shared the big news on “Good Morning America” today. “We are so excited to announced we are going on a huge 50-city tour staring June 9th in New Orleans,” she gushed with co-star, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd, by her side. “We are so excited. ‘Jesus Christ Superstar,’ it’s an area spectacular.”
Other famous faces on board for the project include punk legend John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon as King Herod, ‘N Sync’s JC Chasez as Pontius Pilate and reality show winner Ben Forster as the son of God.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 11. Get a sneak peek of what’s to come with Michelle’s performance of the theme song, below.
Congrats, Ms. Williams!
