Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2015.

For his latest transeason collection (MK has banished the phrase “Pre-Fall” from his brand’s vocabulary), Michael Kors put a spin on his classic American sportswear aesthetic with conventionally ladylike and dainty detailing including pearls, polka dots, bows, and florals. They were all bold and distinctly done without any of the excess or frills — only that chic Kors athletic-inspired element was present.

Kors dished out his cool and clean ensembles by mixing textures. A knit sweater was juxtaposed against a waxed leather jacket, while a fur jacket played in the same look as cuffed, and pleated denim.

Shapes and silhouettes were composed, yet easy including full-skirted halter dresses belted at the waist, pleated trousers perfect for the office, sequin striped polos, and collared mini dresses. Pointed-toe mary janes, tuxedo-inspired sneakers with bow detailing, flats with contrast trim, and perforated brogues anchored the outfits.

Kors is a red carpet mainstay and there was no doubt that some of the looks presented here could work for a slew of celebrity fans including Rita Ora, Zhang Ziyi, and Blake Lively. A black embroidered gown with cutout detailing was full-on princess for an awards show, while a sequin shift would work perfectly for a cocktail party or a stylish night out.
