Michelle Obama Hangs Out With Oprah Winfrey In Maui Before 50th Birthday.
It's not a celebration until Oprah Winfrey is involved!
Michelle Obama is spending a few days at her home in Hawaii to be with "friends ahead of her upcoming 50th birthday party," according to the White House.
And it looks like the first lady's friends include none other than Ms. Winfrey herself!
Locals near the Winfrey's Kula estate have reported seeing Secret Service agents and barricades of policemen, fueling rumors that Mrs. Obama visited the media mogul at her house before her special day.
Winfrey's sprawling Hawaiian home sits on a staggering 17 acres and features 11 bedrooms, almost all of which overlook the stunning coastline.
In a recent blog for The Huffington Post, the television star called her Hawaii home her "sacred space."
She explained, "There's a reason it's called paradise. I am blessed that for at least two months out of the year (working on three) I get to call it home…I never imagined my life's journey would land me inside the dream that is Maui. Every moment I get to spend there I cherish."
So what did the two ladies do during their visit?
Well, if Winfrey's blog is any indication, the two most likely caught up with one another while soaking up the beautiful island views.
"Every evening we sit on the front porch and watch the greatest light show on earth: the sun dipping below the horizon," she wrote of how she spends her time at her Hawaiian retreat. "Neighbors drop by. We sip drinks inspired by whatever is fresh and delicious—mango, guava, pineapple, cucumber, basil. We chat, laugh and rate the sunsets according to their magnificence."
Sounds divine!
The Obama family had been vacationing in nearby Kailua, on the island of Oahu, for two weeks over the holidays.
