Best Looks Of The Week.
1. First Lady Michelle Obama in Prabal Gurung
Mrs. Obama sizzled at the US Africa Leaders Summit in a summery chic yellow number from Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2013 collection. The color popped against her skin, and her accoutrements, including a set of stacked bangles, were effortlessly modern. We salute!
2. J. Lo in Valentino
We’ve been suffering from a bit of J.Lo American Idol withdrawal in the last few weeks, but thankfully La Lopez brought us back to life with a Valentino butterfly printed piece at the show’s Nashville auditions. The dress was beautiful on its own, so she didn’t have to do much, slipping on suede navy pumps and finishing her ensemble with her typical simmering, mouth slightly agape gaze. This is what you call effortless style.
3. Olivia Palermo in Vintage and Aquazzura
Oliva Palermo has been a regular in our look of the week roundups, and her vintage leather skirt and Aquazzura sandals were enough to merit her a spot in today’s edition. This look was unapologetically unique, mixing a somewhat erstwhile silhouette with more contemporary lace ups. Different? Indeed. But, she did that!
4. Kim Kardashian in Bec & Bridge
Kimmy Kakes brought that old thing back at the Sun Kissed Line Ulta celebration in a figure hugging custom dress by Bec and Bridge. Though she’s taken to runway looks as of late, she went with her old faithful bodycon silhouette, and we can see why. The look was simple, but smashing. Work!
5. Mel B in Roksanda Ilincic
I’ll admit it: Roksanda Ilincic is one my favorite designers of the moment, thanks to her interesting colorblock techniques and simple lines. Mel B did due justice to Ilincic’s creative vision in a skirt by the designer, offset by a saucy bustier top and strappy black sandals. Give us body, Mel B!
6.Nina Dobrev in J. MendelRounding out this week’s picks is Nina Dobrev, who kept it cute while doing press rounds in NYC in a J. Mendel shift and Harlequin pumps by Bionda Castana. Though the shoes were busy, she struck the right sartorial note with her printed frock and minimal accessories. One can go so very wrong with statement making footwear, but this look was oh so right.
And that does it!
