Summer Lovin': The Most Creative Date Ideas

Dating is supposed to be fun. I know it can be a terrifying thing for many people. But when we’re doing it right it’s full of laughter and adventure, and it’s all about spending time with a person that makes you feel happy to be yourself, while you’re with them. It can be hard to think up new dating ideas. It seems that it’s all been done before sometimes. But with each season comes new dating possibilities, and whether you’ve been dating for years, or you’re just a new couple, you’re thinking of asking someone out on a date, here are few ideas to consider:

1. A tourist-y rendezvous
I know, I know. It may seem awful to go through your city being a tourist – especially if you live in a big city and there are loads of tourists. But the reality is most of us don’t appreciate the cities that we live in as much as we should. We barely do even a quarter of the things they have to offer. So why not grab your date, and map out a full day of tourist attractions. Pro -tip: Stop for a cocktail ever so often. It’ll make the date quite the adventure.
2. Help out at a farm for a day
If you’re a city person like I am, seeing a farm is almost a peculiar affair. (Of course if you live on a farm, perhaps do the reverse – and volunteer in a city space in some shape or form as a date.) Farms are a great way to get out of our comfort zones and to see people out of their comfort zones. Whether its learning how to milk a cow, or feeding chicken, or just learning how a farm might operate, it would be both an educational and interesting experience for you both.
3. Yard sale hunting
Yard sale hunting is a great idea if one or both of you are looking to maybe make changes to your decor in your home or simply to find cool stuff. Take an afternoon out and find all the garage and yard sales going on in your neighborhood and have fun with them. You’ll get to see each other’s tastes and styles and maybe learn how people deal with casual negotiations too, which we might not often get to see that in the people we date sometimes.
4. Outdoor dance (lessons)
Somewhere along the way slow dancing especially (and other forms of formal dance) just became a thing that people didn’t do anymore, unless they were at particular events such as weddings. But in most cities and towns during the summer times, dance lessons are offered in public parks or open studios. And maybe on a Friday afternoon, the two of you can escape work early and head over and learn a new dance together. Who knows? Maybe you’ll both find a new hobby that way.
5. Find a garden to plant something together
This is super corny and maybe it’s only something you should consider when you’ve been dating a while. But if you have an access to a garden or can find a way to get access to one, maybe you and your boo should take up a green thumb on a date and plant something together. Whether it’s brightly colored flowers or plants that can survive any season, choose something that represents where you’ll in your relationship and return and visit from time to time to see how it’s doing. I did it say it was corny. But whatever, there’s nothing wrong with a little corny.
