The 2015 BET Awards
The 2015 BET Awards are going down now! Celebs stormed the red carpet in leggy frocks, loads of embellishment, figure-skimming silhouettes, and unexpected spins on the classic suit.
Let’s get into their looks shall we?
Nicki Minaj served up dark romance in a zip-front lace Givenchy dress and Tom Ford sandals. This gave me modern-day Morticia Addams, so naturally it was hot!
Gabrielle Union skewed sultry in a black sequin cutout gown. One of my favorite looks from her to date!
Ciara won both on the stage in the tribute to Janet Jackson and on the red carpet in Wes Gordon alongside boyfriend Russell Wilson. Beautiful couple no?
Zendaya Coleman sparkled in a short ‘do, Nicolas Jebran shirtdress, and Roberto Cavalli platform sandals. She always gets it right.
The night’s hosts, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross were quite the good looking duo! Tracee’s curls, LWD, and curves couldn’t have been more perfect.
Fabolous and Kelly Rowland posed together on the red carpet, in Givenchy and Lever Couture respectively.
Michael B. Jordan was delectable in a dark teal suit that fit him to perfection.
Janelle Monae loves a cape and she wore a Safiyaa cape dress and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals before hitting the stage to perform her hit tune “Yoga”. What’s not to like?
Christina Milian was draped in a barely-there metal-adorned top and high-waist matching trousers. This was a lot to digest, but I thought it was fun for the occasion at hand.
Angela Simmons showed off her toned gams in a long-sleeve embellished Patbo dress. Pretty!
It was all about prints for La La Anthony in a $1,666 Peter Pilotto Printed Stretch Viscose Dress and $976 Giuseppe Zanotti Suede Circle Sandals. Hot!
Brandy gave her long-sleeve, high-neck flare dress a pop of color with pink suede Casadei pumps.
Michelle Williams certainly made a few women green with envy in an olive floor-grazing Hervé Léger bandage gown. She’s never looked better and though I admittedly get a bit tired of bodycon, this was a chic spin on the silhouette.
Sanaa Lathan showed off her curves in a one-shoulder sequin dress, completed with flirty bangs.
From the sleek, straight hair to the python top and trouser combination, I couldn’t help but think Tinashe was channeling Aaliyah for the awards show.
I’m normally all for a jumpsuit, but something about the fit of Laverne Cox’s tuxedo-inspired piece from Project Runway winner Dmitry Sholokhov was a bit off. Her hair and makeup though? Flawless!
Black and gold were on the menu for Justine Skye in a showstopping gold collar, Balmain frock, $490 Stuart Weitzman Leg Wrap Sandals, and Forever 21 cuffs. Isn’t she gorgeous?
Power actress Naturi Naughton couldn’t be missed in a bold mermaid gown from House of Kai. I love that she chose to support this talented student!
Single Ladies star Letoya Luckett was a vision in a white House of Zhivago dress.
Dej Loaf left very little to the imagination in a long-sleeve sheer black lace House of Zhivago number. I’m all for transparent dresses, but this missed the mark in my opinion. One thing that is for sure is that she’s a total beauty: her hair and makeup were killer.
Sevyn Streeter bared just a flash of her enviable abs in a hot pink strapless crop top and high-waist maxi skirt.
Blac Chyna and Amber Rose attended the award show as a duo, both in all-white suits.
B. Scott had one of the best ensembles of the night with long, cascading curls, a blush pink fringe dress, and Jimmy Choo sandals.
A menswear-inspired moment is always welcomed and Lil Mama was on the cusp of flawless execution, but her trousers needed a bit more hemming.
Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe easily win the Most Beautiful Couple award wherever they go and though I didn’t love his ensemble for the night, I did love her long-sleeve white lace-inset gown. I can’t wait to see their new talk show!
Morris Chestnut donned a baby blue suit for the night. Not crazy about the tailoring here, but I am quite excited to see The Perfect Guy.
Hakeem would definitely be proud of Bryshere Gray’s lime green jacket and patent shoes. This was a risk, but it worked!
I’m all for a classic man and great tailoring, but Jidenna’s complete getup veered into costume territory. Hmm…
I don’t think it would have killed Michael Ealy to try a bit harder in the style department…luckily he’s fine and can get away with a few fashion missteps!
I love the retro-inspired feel of a suit worn with a white t-shirt underneath, but the tailoring on Big Sean here was off.
“Pretty in pink” isn’t quite how I’d describe Flo Rida’s look for the evening, though he did wear a suit in the rosy hue. His girlfriend, Natalie La Rose kept it simple in a black one-shoulder gown with a thigh-high slit.
Chris Brown always keeps it interesting and though I liked his floral-sleeve jacket, the rest of his look was simply lazy and thrown together.
Big Tigger is normally dressed down in casual wares on the air, but he suited up in an eggplant
Tori Kelly slipped on a black leather zipper-accented frock and $1,027 Rene Caovilla Swarovski Crystal Embellished Cutout Pumps.
We’ve seen Being Mary Jane actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield defy aging for years now and tonight was no exception! She showed off her enviable figure in a glitter-embellished illusion dress.
You know the BET Awards red carpet is all about sparkle and Shaun Robinson gave that and more with a knee-length sparkling frock with cutout detailing.
The Game actress Brittany Daniel gave an artful touch to the evening in a $695 Nicholas Printed Cutout Sheath. I would’ve loved a simple ankle-strap sandal here in a fun color, but there’s no denying the dress is hot!
Before opening the show with his powerful song “Alright”, Kendrick Lamar hit the red carpet in a stripe sweater and Timbs.
Margaret Avery was a ray of sunshine on the festivities in a gown in the bright shade. Take notes kids!
Who had your favorite look at the awards show? Stay tuned as i updated throughout the evening!
