Don't mean to come down on one of this country's most iconic menu items and am never above stuffing my face with a giant, juicy burger. But even we have to agree that these nine burgers from American establishments are basically edible heart attacks.
Eat This, Not That! magazine published a report on the unhealthiest burgers in the country, and after lots of research that we can only assume had to end with editors getting a colon cleanse and going on a two-week salt detox, we have our winners.
Is "winners" the right word to use here?
Below is the list of the worst burgers you can put into your body from fast food and sit-down restaurants across this great nation. We've also included the descriptions, but just reading them will actually make you bloat a little bit, so tread carefully. And almost every burger has a completely ridiculous, unnecessary item added to it, so we had to call them out for it, too. Even though freedom in the USA means putting whatever the hell you want on your burger, some of these are just straight-up bonkers:
1. Hardee's and Carl's Jr. 1/2 Lb. Thickburger El Diablo

Unnecessary item: Jalapeno poppers
2. Steak 'n Shake's 7x7 Steakburger
What's the damage? 1,330 calories, 98 g fat (45 g saturated fat, 3.5 g trans fat), 4,490 sodium, 34 g carbohydrates
