Few do a sultry, form-fitting dress like Cushnie et Ochs, but for Resort 2016, Carly Cushnie et Michelle Ochs decided to lessen their commitment to unabashed sexiness—instead showing their brand’s lighter side.
The Amazon served as inspiration for the season, thus the design duo accented their looks with bold hues, loads of embellishment, flowing trousers, and undulating ruffles, inspired by fashion in Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela: countries which are all home to the great rainforest.
The brand’s signature cutouts were on display, adding flair to figure-skimming frocks with deep v-necklines and one-shoulder silhouettes.
Dots are a print we haven’t seen before from Cushnie et Ochs, but they worked here on a ruffle crop top and high-waist skirt combination, a smoldering LBD with a thigh-high slit, another midriff-baring top (this time with short sleeves), and a sheath boasting the same aforementioned thigh-baring detail and a contrast black chiffon overlay. A wide-leg halter jumpsuit in the classic pattern with a plunging neckline was practically made for the red carpet, while a strapless little black dress with a flounce bodice covered in dots will work in a modern-day woman’s wardrobe for years to come.
What do you think of the latest from Cushnie et Ochs?
