Trends To Step Up Your Beauty Game

teewhy-hive.blogspot.co.ukOther than pumpkin spice everything, fall means we get to don our favorite coats and adjust our beauty routines accordingly. Enter excitement here. Who cares that summer is over when we get fresh fall trends to try from head-to-toe? Oh, and no need to sweat-proof your makeup routine. Yeah, fall just became our favorite season. #Sorrynotsorry summer.
I’ve picked five beauty trends to get us in season, and tips on how to rock them.

1. Metallic Eyes
Skip the black smokey eye, because been there done that, and try autumn-appropriate gold and copper eye shadows instead, which amp up the glam and are still daytime wearable. #Winning
Tip: Use an eye shadow primer to combat greasy lids and avoid creases.
TRY:

Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer ($21)
Lilah B. Virtuous Veil Concealer & Eye Primer ($44)
Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in (3.) Metallic Gilded Gold and Comex Copper ($32)
Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color in Naked Bronze and Golden Peach ($62)
2. Black Eyeliner All Around
If fashion week taught us anything, it’s that geometric and smudgy eyeliner is trending. Forget the classic cat-eye, these looks are less goth and more artsy.
Tip: For simple, no-fuss all-around eyeliner, use a creamy pencil and smudge the color along the lash line. Finish with a bit of setting powder on lids and under eyes to keep liner from running.

TRY:
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer ($7)
Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense ($18)
Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil ($21)
3. Berry Lips
Nothing screams fall like a berry-colored pout; we’re talking deep purples, mauves, and burgundy hues to turn us into vixens instantly. Dare we try a blueberry pucker, too? Rihanna gets it.
Tip: Exfoliate lips and use a dab of concealer or a lip primer on and around the mouth prior to applying lipstick. It’ll fill in fine lines so that bold lipstick shades don’t bleed, and it increases staying power.

TRY:
E.L.F. Lip Primer & Plumper ($3)
Fresh Sugar Lip Polish ($24)
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Shame ($17)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Vintage ($20)
CoverGirl Outlast Lip Color in Plum Berry ($8)
4. Blinged-Out Highlighter
Highlighting has really reached new heights, and we’re here for it. Ditch your regular strobing powder for some glitzy highlighters in gold, “icy” blue, and lavender. No need to accessorize any further, you’ll be looking like bling.
Tip: Use a fan brush to apply powders, and never use liquid highlighter over powder when layering. Powder over liquid, however, will amp up the pigment (we’re game for this).

TRY:
It Brushes For Ultra Airbrush Radiance Fan Brush #116 ($18)
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife ($34)
Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Unicorn ($25)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit ($40)
Milk Makeup Holographic Stick ($28)
5. Cobalt Eyes
Blue may well be fall’s It color, another note we took away from the runways. Try electric blue eye shadow, eye liner, or mascara—but not all three at the same time – and stick to one shade of blue coordinated to your skin tone, i.e. light blues for fairer skin and deeper shades on darker skin tones.
Tip: Do like Beyonce and use Smith’s Rosebud Salve ($6) as a lash primer to reduce mascara clumps. It works, seriously.

TRY:
Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara in Think Ink ($26)
Tarte Clay Pot Waterproof Liner in Cobalt and Blue Moon ($21)
Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Mascara in Boomin’ in Blue ($8)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Evidence and Radium ($19)
