Hair Extension Styling Secrets With Tym Wallace
As effortless-glam hair sweeps by us on the red carpets of the world, i often get that surge of hair envy: “Why can’t I have hair like that?!”  Well, you can. You just need a master hair guru in your corner. Perhaps someone like Tym Wallace  who has been working his magic touch into the tresses of today’s hottest celebrities, such as Zendaya, Kelly Rowland, and Taraji P. Henson. Sources sat down with this iconic hairstylist to get his secrets on how to style and maintain our hair extensions, so that we too can achieve legendary locks.

The Lady Loves Couture: What are some of the rules for protecting your own hair while wearing extensions?
Tym Wallace: First and foremost, make sure that the installation is done professionally. The braids should not to be too tight but secure enough to hold the weight of the extensions.
TLLC: What are three tips you recommend on how to shop for extensions?
TW: Research the company and make sure that it’s a reputable brand. Ask for samples. If they don’t provide them, I don’t recommend going with the company. You want to use virgin hair only. If the hair has a smell to it, the hair has been processed.
TLLC: Is there a particular brand of extensions or clips you recommend?
TW: I recommend Indique Virgin Indian Hair Extensions Plus and True Indian Hair.
TLLC:  Can you give us some tips on selecting textured extensions or clip-ins?
TW: You want to match texture for texture, so whatever curl pattern you have make sure the extensions matches it as closely as possible. I like a company called Heat Free Hair for its amazing resemblance to natural hair.
TLLC: Do you have any words of wisdom or quick fixes for a bad hair day?
If you’re having a bad hair day, the quickest fix is a top knot or a cute crown braid.
TLLC: What are your must-have styling products?
TW: My must-have products are Oribe Apres Beach Wave And Shine ($39), Oribe Gold Pomade ($49), and  Design Essentials Natural Edge Tamer ($7) . I can create any look with just these three products.
